Ages for Club Participation

  • Club participation is for students 12-18 years old.
  • Junior Speech activities are available for ages 9-11.
  • Beginner Speech activities are available for ages 4-8.

Fees for Club Participation

  • Cost is $20/family payable at or before the mandatory orientation meeting.
  • An additional $15/student fee will be due in approx. October 2024 when registering for the December practice tournament.
  • In the fall semester (aka “Pre-Season”), we primarily teach from the NCFCA Curriculum. These are all available for purchase on the NCFCA Shop. https://ncfca.org/learn/curriculum.

Tournament Participation

  • All club members are expected to participate in the Quo Vadis practice tournament held here in Lafayette.
  • For speech and debate impetus and experience, we highly recommend participation in NCFCA tournaments.
  • There is an NCFCA Affiliation fee in order to participate in NCFCA tournaments.
  • Create an account on www.NCFCA.org and pay affiliation fee for the year.
  • They offer an Early Bird rate.
  • The Regular Fee is $160/family (subject to change).
  • Tournament participation costs include: event registration (see League Handbook), travel to National
  • tournaments/lodging/meals, and tournament attire requirements (see League Handbook)
  • If your student participates in the Apologetics or Extemporaneous speech events, there may be additional materials costs associated with these events.
  • There may also be additional costs for debate resources, sourcebook subscriptions, and flowbooks.

Parent Participation

  • Our club requires parents to attend club with their students.
  • If a parent cannot attend club, they will need to appoint a chaperone for their student/students.
    • The chaperone may be an older sibling of a clubber (19 years or older).
    • The chaperone may not be an adult who is already responsible for their own children at club.
  • Parents and chaperones must remain on site during club time.
